Steve Briody's Bio

Steve Briody is a NY area guitarist. His contemporary jazz CD "Keep On Talkin" (2006), still receives national airplay and was selected to the 2007 Grammy ballot for best pop instrumental album. Produced by Rippingtons' keyboardist and good friend Bill Heller, it was his first (and only) major release, and featured outstanding performances from Jeff Lorber, Eric Marienthal, Mario Cruz, Greg Adams, & Jack Knight.
Steve, a relative of the late Tal Farlow, studied jazz guitar with legend Jack Wilkins and has been a busy musician in the NY area for some time, and enjoys playing in many genres. He has worked with Dave Valentin, Mario Cruz' Natural Selection, Sean Grace, Don Grusin, Funk Filharmonik, Bucky Pizzarelli, Greg Adams, Paula Atherton, Randy Brecker, Carl Fischer's Organic Groove, Jeff Lorber, Eric Marienthal, and Bernard Purdie.
He has been guitarist for The Long Island Music Hall of Fame Band from 2006-present.
Steve also teaches guitar at Five Towns College, and recently had a funk lesson column in Guitar Player magazine.
He is the author of the upcoming jazz guitar instructional book "Jazz Guitar Lines of the Greats", published by Jamey Aebersold Jazz....due in stores early 2011.
