Learning the guitar can be fun, but did you know that it can also lead to a 4-year college degree and a great career?  The music industry is a multi-billion dollar industry.  It includes music sales from concerts, recordings, broadcasts, printed music, music instrument sales, and music instruction.

“A talented guitarist with a 4-year degree is in a great position to begin a career in the music industry,” according to Dr. Martin Cohen, a Dean at Five Towns College.  “At our institution many guitarists specialize in music business, music performance, audio recording technology, music education, and much more.  The same talent that propels a talented musician, often also helps someone succeed in other settings that involve music and the arts, including corporate, artistic, educational, etc.”

The value of a college degree is just as important to a musician, as it is to anyone else. Course requirements often include english, social science, humanities, some mathematics, and other general education courses.  Many 4-year music graduates go on to graduate schools in law, education, and business.
